Accident Prone

Posted May 11th, 2010 by Melissa | No Comments »

I know that scientists have said many a time that being accident prone isn’t a real thing, but when it comes to me I think they may have found a subject that could prove them wrong.

So on Sunday Read the rest of this entry »

Hmmm, so what should I do for Monday?

Posted May 10th, 2010 by Melissa | No Comments »

So in the spirit of my regular posts for Wednesday I think I’m going to try something like that for Mondays too. This one may not be as often, and I may not always post something I made that day, but it could be fun. I’m going to call it ‘Made it Monday.’ I’ll post things I’ve made for friends, stuff for our house, and more. So you’ll seeing sewing, photography, gardening, painting, cooking and maybe a bit more. I’ll do my best to post where I got the inspiration from as well. This may be more like an every other week entry, but we’ll see.

So for today… Read the rest of this entry »

“Check Back Later”

Posted May 7th, 2010 by Melissa | No Comments »

I used to hate that when the magic eight ball said that. I don’t see them around too much anymore, but the other day I saw this kid playing with something that looked like one but totally wasn’t the “real” thing. Thus I spent a few minutes researching and totally found a tutorial for one. Rock on eighties style people!

Anyway, click on the photo and it will take you to the tutorial. They call it the oracle of love, but the kid I saw had stars and stuff on his… so I say magic eight ball. ;-)

Trying Something New

Posted May 5th, 2010 by Melissa | No Comments »

So I’ve been trying to come up with routine blog posts. I think my first will be ‘Website Wednesday.’ Reason being, I love all the great websites out there. I’ve found so many sites on local stuff, cooking, photography, gardening, crafting, quilting, home appliances, clothes, and more that I think it only fair to share. Thus, from this point forward… well until I forget on a routine basis ;) I am going to try and post my favorite websites as of late. I’ve got about 100 that I check routinely,  so we’ve got at least the next two years covered.

Well what should my first one be… crafts… photography… gardening… nope, I think food.

Lately I’ve been smitten Read the rest of this entry »

Who knew!

Posted May 3rd, 2010 by Melissa | No Comments »

I have loved pop tarts for ever! But they’re not very good for you. Thus I haven’t had one in years. I’ve been trying to eat things that have very few preservatives, little salt, no artificial sugars, and with words I can’t pronounce on the package. Yep we make a lot of food from scratch around here.

Anyway back to the pop tarts. Sean was web surfing the other day and found what I think may be one of my new favorite blogs. The Smitten Kitchen! Well she recently made these: Read the rest of this entry »

They made it!

Posted May 1st, 2010 by Melissa | No Comments »

Well Sean and Aaron made the finish line, both a little worse for the wear but all in one piece! Sean said the ride was very beautiful and the hills not as bad as they looked on the elevation map. I figure that’s a good thing. Monica and I were a bit blurry-eyed at 5:30am, but went for breakfast at Kerby because we were already up. We had a very nice time and then met up later that day at the finish line. They estimated their arrival for 1 to 2pm, my bet was 3pm. They came in at 3:06pm… whoot! I nailed that one. ;)

By time they got in I was starting to feel the sun. It was actually rather warm today. I have a bit of a sunburn to prove it. :) The boys ate their victory dinner of brauts, sauerkraut, and coleslaw. They chased it with cold beer direct from the Shiner Brewery. Monica and I joined in Read the rest of this entry »

Shiner Ride

Posted May 1st, 2010 by Melissa | No Comments »

Well we were up pretty early this morning to get Sean to Aaron and Monica’s house. The boys are doing the Shiner GHASP 100 mile ride together. I’m pretty proud of them both and can’t wait to see them at the finish line. Here’s what they looked like at 5:30am:

It will be interesting to see what they look like at 5:30pm. ;) Hope you all have a good Saturday!!!

More gardening!!!

Posted April 28th, 2010 by Melissa | No Comments »

I love this time of year. I get to play outside in the beautiful weather and get all dirty. :) We’ve almost got our raised beds together… photos to come soon. For now I’ll just give you a teaser of all the veggies I bought to plant in the raised beds. Yea for gardens!

Baby Shower

Well today we spent the afternoon with friends celebrating the impending arrival of their little girl. We met Lisa and David about a year and a half ago, we instantly hit it off and have enjoyed many an evening hanging out with them. We are so very thrilled that they are expecting and can’t wait to meet their little girl. If you click the photo it will take you to some more photos from the afternoon. Please note that I’m taking a photography class and not all the photos are perfect because I’m in manual mode baby. ;)

As for gifts, Read the rest of this entry »

Bushes!!!

Posted April 23rd, 2010 by Melissa | No Comments »

So, I’m not a huge fan of bushes. I mean I like the ones in the really awesome gardens in Europe that have been there for decades, or centuries, and create awesome mazes and stuff, however the boring ones most of us have in our yards me no like. Thus I’ve been telling Sean I was going to cut them down. He always seems to underestimate the determination of his wife. :) Not a good thing for him, as it tends to make me more likely to prove him wrong.

Anyway this is what the yard looked like before… Read the rest of this entry »
