Voting

Posted October 31st, 2008 by Melissa | No Comments »

Well I hope everyone got to go to early voting or will vote sometime next Tuesday. Sean got to vote for the first time in his life. He left Canada to young to vote for anything there and until this past summer couldn’t vote here. Well now that he’s a citizen he has gone and done his civic duty… no I didn’t take photos but I was really proud.

The first thing he said after he came out was Read the rest of this entry »

Well I’ve got to dote on Sean again.

While most all industries are going through a crunch right now Luminary Micro is pushing right on through. They’ve got another article out and this time it was with Forbes Magazine! How awesome is that!

Primitive!

Posted October 26th, 2008 by Melissa | No Comments »

So Sean and I decided to go camping. We packed our gear, loaded the car and headed for the lovely hills of west Texas to Lost Maples State Natural Area. We have heard from several other friends, that love to camp, how amazing it is and so I made reservations a few months back. Well as we were approaching our destination Sean noticed our reservation said ‘primitive’ next to it. Fretting a bit, we soon found it meant a roughly 1.2 mile hike into wilderness to the ‘closest’ campsite, and that the site had no facilities… well it had a composting toilet a hundred yards or so from where we camped, thus I shouldn’t exaggerate… it had almost no facilities. ;)

We arrived very late Friday afternoon Read the rest of this entry »

Mom turns 29 (again) and seeing old friends….

Posted October 18th, 2008 by Melissa | No Comments »

Well my mom came to town last weekend for her birthday. She got in early Saturday and we went to the Sunset Valley Farmers Market. We got some things for a good Sunday dinner and then we spent the afternoon hanging out and chatting. Mom wanted Brick Oven for her birthday dinner and then we took her to Amy’s for dessert. Sunday, not only did we have a good meal of ribs, fresh okra, and salad, she helped us clean up our new porch and replant everything. You know mom and her green thumb, our porch now looks amazing and some how we have twice as many plants. ;)

Then on Monday we drove out near Lockhart, Texas to see some old friends. I’m sure we all know that it takes a village to raise kids and Read the rest of this entry »

Hurricanes, moving, birthdays and weddings… Oh my!

*UPDATE* 10/06/08 - Photo links have been added to this page.

Well I figure by the title it is evident that the last couple of weeks have been pretty crazy. To begin with mom, uncle Larry and a friend of mom’s came to visit during Ike. Sean’s parents were also here with a friend as well but they were able to stay in Julie’s new place. For our end, we had a great time. It was fun to have family here to take for some Austin sight seeing and some good Austin food. Though I’ll admit that I forgot how early they get up and go to bed! I don’t function very well before 7am in the morning!

As it turns out most of our family and friends back along the coast fared the storm pretty well. Though there were a couple of exceptions, Read the rest of this entry »

Hurricane Season

Posted September 9th, 2008 by Melissa | No Comments »

Well for those that don’t live in Texas the Hurricane Season is upon us in full force. We currently have Ike headed towards the Texas coast and are expecting family to head this way towards the end of the week. I find it strange how this has become the norm for me as a native Texan from the coast. I call a few people a head of time to make sure there’s enough room for all those that might need a place to stay, thank you to James and Melissa for the offers of warm beds in the event they do head here, and then I just kick back. It truly is something out of my control and I can’t do anything until it is almost upon us. I believe that most of my family living on the coast react in this manner. However Sean and Read the rest of this entry »

*UPDATE* 10/06/08 - Photo links have been added to this post.

Well this month has just flown by. We’ve been home to visit the family once this month. We also have a trip planned this weekend to head to Lubbock to help Evan move into his first real apartment. He will be starting his third year at Texas Tech University. Then I’ll be heading home with Sally to help work on my Dad’s house and hang out until Sean shows up the last weekend in August for the all important Read the rest of this entry »

At it again!

I know I just keep on doting but I truly am a proud wife. There was a press release and article a few days back about Sean’s company again. This time it’s about how they’re working with FIRST Robotics Compititon to supply the groups with materials. You can read the press release on the Luminary Micro website.
