Happy New Year!!!

Thursday, January 1st, 2009

Well it’s been an exciting couple of weeks for Sean and I. Saturday December 20th we drove to Waco, TX to my Aunt Barbara and Uncle Mickey’s home for Christmas with my Dad’s family. I made a lovely ham, with some delicious sides and Dad cooked up some beautiful shrimp. I was very excited about the shrimp as I can’t eat pork, I’ve got a stomach issue with that particular meat. Anyway, I believe everyone enjoyed the meal and we had a great time catching up. I hadn’t seen my Pawpaw or my cousin Thomas in a while and it was great to sit back and just enjoy each others company. We were also able to meet Vanessa, Thomas’ new girlfriend. She was lovely and has a great sense of humor, she added a lot to our Christmas get together. We were only able to spend the day together, but it felt good to start the Christmas week off with family.

Food+Friends+Family+Cold Weather+More Food = The Holidays

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

Well it’s been a while since last we blogged, thus I thought I would update you all as to the last eight weeks of the craziness of our lives. We should start with Thanksgiving. My mom, sister, Sean’s sister, mom and dad were at our place for the Turkey carving. Allie and mom came up Tuesday and we stayed up chatting like girls do, though mom didn’t make it as long as she used too. :) Then Wednesday the cooking began. The menu consisted of: (more…)

Voting

Friday, October 31st, 2008

Well I hope everyone got to go to early voting or will vote sometime next Tuesday. Sean got to vote for the first time in his life. He left Canada to young to vote for anything there and until this past summer couldn’t vote here. Well now that he’s a citizen he has gone and done his civic duty… no I didn’t take photos but I was really proud.

The first thing he said after he came out was (more…)

Forbes!

Friday, October 31st, 2008

Well I’ve got to dote on Sean again.

While most all industries are going through a crunch right now Luminary Micro is pushing right on through. They’ve got another article out and this time it was with Forbes Magazine! How awesome is that!

Here’s the link to the article: http://www.forbes.com/entrepreneurs/forbes/2008/1110/094.html

Primitive!

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

So Sean and I decided to go camping. We packed our gear, loaded the car and headed for the lovely hills of west Texas to Lost Maples State Natural Area. We have heard from several other friends, that love to camp, how amazing it is and so I made reservations a few months back. Well as we were approaching our destination Sean noticed our reservation said ‘primitive’ next to it. Fretting a bit, we soon found it meant a roughly 1.2 mile hike into wilderness to the ‘closest’ campsite, and that the site had no facilities… well it had a composting toilet a hundred yards or so from where we camped, thus I shouldn’t exaggerate… it had almost no facilities. ;)

We arrived very late Friday afternoon (more…)

Mom turns 29 (again) and seeing old friends….

Saturday, October 18th, 2008

Well my mom came to town last weekend for her birthday. She got in early Saturday and we went to the Sunset Valley Farmers Market. We got some things for a good Sunday dinner and then we spent the afternoon hanging out and chatting. Mom wanted Brick Oven for her birthday dinner and then we took her to Amy’s for dessert. Sunday, not only did we have a good meal of ribs, fresh okra, and salad, she helped us clean up our new porch and replant everything. You know mom and her green thumb, our porch now looks amazing and some how we have twice as many plants. ;)

Then on Monday we drove out near Lockhart, Texas to see some old friends. I’m sure we all know that it takes a village to raise kids and (more…)

So we went to Monica and Aaron’s Wedding and it was BEAUTIFUL! She looked like Cinderella and he made for a great Prince Charming. I put the photos up on the website as well as many other I’ve been meaning to put up for a while so check’em out.

Back to the wedding, (more…)

Well I figure by the title it is evident that the last couple of weeks have been pretty crazy. To begin with mom, uncle Larry and a friend of mom’s came to visit during Ike. Sean’s parents were also here with a friend as well but they were able to stay in Julie’s new place. For our end, we had a great time. It was fun to have family here to take for some Austin sight seeing and some good Austin food. Though I’ll admit that I forgot how early they get up and go to bed! I don’t function very well before 7am in the morning!

As it turns out most of our family and friends back along the coast fared the storm pretty well. Though there were a couple of exceptions, (more…)

Hurricane Season

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

Well for those that don’t live in Texas the Hurricane Season is upon us in full force. We currently have Ike headed towards the Texas coast and are expecting family to head this way towards the end of the week. I find it strange how this has become the norm for me as a native Texan from the coast. I call a few people a head of time to make sure there’s enough room for all those that might need a place to stay, thank you to James and Melissa for the offers of warm beds in the event they do head here, and then I just kick back. It truly is something out of my control and I can’t do anything until it is almost upon us. I believe that most of my family living on the coast react in this manner. However Sean and (more…)

Where to live?

Monday, August 18th, 2008

*UPDATE* 10/06/08 - Photo links have been added to this post.

Well this month has just flown by. We’ve been home to visit the family once this month. We also have a trip planned this weekend to head to Lubbock to help Evan move into his first real apartment. He will be starting his third year at Texas Tech University. Then I’ll be heading home with Sally to help work on my Dad’s house and hang out until Sean shows up the last weekend in August for the all important (more…)
