Well after 7 plus years of faithful service my Bessie is finally leaving us. I’m sure Carmax will fix her up and find a good home for her. I bought her in late 2003, for a good deal. It was my first taste of negotiation and bargaining. Needless to say I was hooked after that.
We turned Bessie and her keys over last night. Here is my final snapshot with my girl.
So what will we be driving now? Well…we bought Vera. She’s a beauty, eh!?! All shiny and feels like new. She’s a 2008 Mazda CX-9. Yep, we negotiated and bought a very reasonably priced used car. It was a first for both of us, but in the end I think we did a great job. She sure is fun to drive. She holds a ton more stuff too. Sean tells me she’ll be a great family car. I think that was supposed to be a nudge and a hint, however I’m going to use my selective wife hearing skills and pretend I didn’t hear him say that.
For now I’m just going to enjoy her sleek lines, nice air conditioning, amazing handling, and the cool fact that while she is an automatic I can switch her into manual mode. Those will be the moments I reminisce over Bessie, however progress and moving forward is to be a good thing in this instance. Here is our new baby, a little dark but it was taken in the wee hours of the morning. I kind of like the sun reflecting off the windshield, I think it means we should expect great things from her.
