Well I’ve been threatening to make you all look at my garden for weeks now. So here goes!
The trellises in the first photo are for my butterfly garden and my bulbs. There is currently Mandevilla Vine, Coral Honeysuckle, and flowering bulbs (Gladiolus, Ranunculus, and Narcissus, or better know Jonquils/Daffodils). I hope to add Passion Vine to my collection and plant Lantana around the boarder. This should all help to breed and feed new caterpillars and butterflies. It also is good for attracting humming birds. Lets just hope the other birds don’t like it. :-\The next picture is what we have finished of our vegetable garden. We’ve got corn, beans, sunflowers, cucumbers, tomatoes, okra, tomatillos, hot peppers, sweet peppers, butternut squash, yellow squash, egg plant, marigolds and several herbs in the raised beds. Sean made them, nice huh!?! So far everything is coming along slowly. There are a few plants struggling with the heat, as we planted at the very last minute. I’m Going to keep my fingers crossed. For now here are some close ups of what we are getting!
You’re looking at a jalapeno pepper, a tomatillo, and a very tiny butter nut squash. We’ve gotten a few more things since then so I’ll have to post pictures again soon! The other thing we’ve gotten isn’t so nice… bugs! While some are good for our garden, I believe this munching critter needs to go somewhere else.
