Made it Monday

So I’ve got another baby thing for you. I know, I know, I don’t even have kids! But let me tell you, when I do, my kids are going to be the coolest on the block. I mean I’ll have already made every cool thing there is for other folks. So this week I’m going to show you a practical thing I made for our friends Lisa and David.

As a nanny I spent, and currently spend, a lot of time taking care of other peoples bundles of joy. When making their gifts I wanted most of it to be practical and thus questioned several people I know about what they used most and what they wish they had had. One of the big answers was a Car Seat Cover/Tent. What!?! Make no sense? Well it will.

A car seat cover/tent is a blanket with ties. Why so cool? Well for those who don’t want people constantly touching baby it keeps them off. To keep baby calm or asleep it is great and it doesn’t get to close to their face. And last when you’re transporting baby in the cold you aren’t fussing with a regular blanket over the car seat handle.

What do they look like. Well here’s an example with an actual car seat. Michelle at A Little Tipsy used ribbon to attach her blanket to the car seat. Beckie at Infarrantly Creative used handles she made from extra fabric and attached Velcro, as did Calli at Make it do. I’m not a huge fan of Velcro so I made ties from extra fabric. I also just took online measurements from a car seat retailer to decided how big it should be. I guess we’ll see if it works. As for the finished product, what do you think?
