Zucchini Tacos

Monday, May 31st, 2010

Well its Monday again. For today I decided to post a made it that is food! Sean and I are extreme food lovers. We like most cuisines and we do our best to at least try most things. We both love to cook, and we’re both pretty good at it, if I do say so myself. Sean can make a mean migas plate, some great chili (though he has to give credit to my dad for the recipe), good grilled eats and more. I’m a bit better with ovens… you know roasting, pastries, etc. Well you get the point I think… WE LOVE FOOD! I’d go as far as to call us foodies.

Anyway, today I’d like to show you one of our recent meals. Its quick, its simple, its healthy, and ohhh (more…)

Website Wednesday

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

Well the website for this week is one that has inspired many a house project, and many a project I still can’t convince Sean to take on. This website is all about a young couple who bought their first house and fell in love. They were married in the back yard of their home, they’ve updated pretty much every room they can, and now they’re expecting their first baby in this home. It kind of adds a bit of nostalgia to owning a home that I think some folks are missing out on today. They’ve got some great videos, some cute stories, tons of help for others, and great inspirational photos to help you find that perfect item you’re looking for.

This site makes me fall a bit in love with my own home every time I check it out, that is every time I go to (more…)

Made it Monday

Monday, May 24th, 2010

So I’ve got another baby thing for you. I know, I know, I don’t even have kids! But let me tell you, when I do, my kids are going to be the coolest on the block. I mean I’ll have already made every cool thing there is for other folks. So this week I’m going to show you a practical thing I made for our friends Lisa and David.

As a nanny I spent, and currently spend, a lot of time taking care of other peoples bundles of joy. When making their gifts I wanted most of it to be practical and thus questioned several people I know about what they used most and what they wish they had had. One of the big answers was a Car Seat Cover/Tent. What!?! Make no sense? Well it will.

A car seat cover/tent is a (more…)

Website Wednesday

Wednesday again!!! So here is a website that is a bit more main stream. For those of us who love clothing, fashion, home projects, tutorials and videos of it all, this is the site for you. On this site you will find a few different blogs as well as video blogs. There is one on clothing, which is sometimes hosted by the average person out there and sometimes hosted by a regular of the team. There is a video every Wednesday on home projects that inspires me to do all sorts of great stuff around our new place. They also recently added a new video blog about fashion. You can also check out several other blogs on their website and videos and tutorials from followers!

What is this great main stream website!?! Well, (more…)

Made it Monday

Monday, May 17th, 2010

So I made this cute thing for a friend a while back. I found the pattern on one of my favorite websites a few months back and just needed to find someone to make it for. I actually had enough to make two, so some other lucky expecting friend will get one too. :)

What is it you ask, (more…)

Free Music

Saturday, May 15th, 2010

One of the things I love most about Austin is all the music… I love it even more when I can sit out on a patch of grass not 100 feet from a band in my lawn chair. It makes me feel like they’re playing in my back yard. Tonight we went to South Park Meadows, a huge shopping complex that has tons of local and non-local shopping and eats. We went to what they call ‘The Grove,’ which is a nice outdoor pavilion. They have a live band every Saturday the month of May and its free to join in, and tonight was The Eggmen. They’re a Beatles cover band. It was a very nice evening, and the weather cooperated beautifully. ;)

This is at sunset about twenty minutes before they started. Normally they have the fountain spraying everywhere and kids running through it. Its a great place to bring the whole family. It also helps that there is local grub and Amy’s Ice Cream, even if I can only have the frozen yogurt. :)

Website Wednesday

Wednesday, May 12th, 2010

Well it is Wednesday again. I’ve got another great website for you. This time I thought I’d go with the crafter in me and show you a website that always inspires me. Now I don’t always hit the sewing machine after I read the blog, because well I’m lazy, but I sure do adore looking at the stuff created by this awesome crafter. On her blog she shows you great jewelry pieces (which you can find a lot of at her sisters Etsy store), great clothing make overs, new clothing projects, kids clothing projects, even sewing basics, and some great inspirational posts. The site also shows you a bit of her every day and she tends to take cute photos of her and her daughter in her creations, which lets face it… great photos help to make a blog special and seeing a crafter wear their crafts makes me want to do their projects just a little more.

So who is this amazing crafter, (more…)

Rockin’ With my Baby

Wednesday, May 12th, 2010

So Sean and I tend to have very different tastes in music, however we are always both up for a good concert. Tonight we checked out a band Sean really likes called Album Leaf. The opening band was called Sea Wolf, and they were pretty good too. Album Leaf is pretty tranquil and always makes me want a hammock and a lemonade. Did you know if you have their band logo tattooed on you, you get into any concert for free? Crazy huh? Thought the logo is actually pretty simple… not too scary.

Anyway, we had a nice time out on the town.

Accident Prone

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

I know that scientists have said many a time that being accident prone isn’t a real thing, but when it comes to me I think they may have found a subject that could prove them wrong.

So on Sunday (more…)

Hmmm, so what should I do for Monday?

Monday, May 10th, 2010

So in the spirit of my regular posts for Wednesday I think I’m going to try something like that for Mondays too. This one may not be as often, and I may not always post something I made that day, but it could be fun. I’m going to call it ‘Made it Monday.’ I’ll post things I’ve made for friends, stuff for our house, and more. So you’ll seeing sewing, photography, gardening, painting, cooking and maybe a bit more. I’ll do my best to post where I got the inspiration from as well. This may be more like an every other week entry, but we’ll see.

So for today… (more…)
