Bushes!!!

So, I’m not a huge fan of bushes. I mean I like the ones in the really awesome gardens in Europe that have been there for decades, or centuries, and create awesome mazes and stuff, however the boring ones most of us have in our yards me no like. Thus I’ve been telling Sean I was going to cut them down. He always seems to underestimate the determination of his wife. :) Not a good thing for him, as it tends to make me more likely to prove him wrong.

Anyway this is what the yard looked like before… minus the snow. :)

A bit lame if you ask me. Anyway on the other side of the driveway there is another bed lined with bricks like the one you see there. It has one bush too and a couple of roses. I like the roses, but both of those flower beds make it really hard to park two cars in our drive way. If you do then you have to get out into the bed, and if you’re on the other side you have to beware of the roses. So we’ve decided to take all the bricks up in those beds and replace the beds with new grass. We’re also going to move the rose bushes back when they go dormant. I think I will get a few more eventually and make a pretty divider of roses between our yard and our neighbors on that side. That neighbor I finally met yesterday… well sort of. I met her parents. Apparently she travels a lot for work and her mom and dad, Judy and Thomas, take care of the place for her. We see them there all the time, as they live close by. Well anyway this is what my yard looked like after a few hours of hard work…

As you can see I hacked back all the bushes. Sean and I took out the bricks near the house a few weeks back, though yesterday I pulled up the ones in the bed on the left side. It was some hard work. Next Monday is brush pick up so I also stacked all the bush bits along the sidewalk. We’ve got tons more brush we need to move to the front before Monday, as those two trees made for a lot of wood. :) I’ll have to get the bricks on the other side out soon as we’re going to lay the new grass this weekend. I feel pretty accomplished, however I couldn’t get all the bush stumps out. :( They were a pain in the butt. This is as far as I got after about 1/2 an hour of working at just one bush…

Yes that is a box of nerds and a candy wrapper. You wouldn’t believe the trash I found when I started cutting those bushes back. I think they are little presents left by our other neighbors kids. Not cool. Well now they won’t be able to hide it as there are no bushes. Ha! I told Sean we should line our yard with roses and cactus to keep the kids out. I love children, and most children are well behaved, but when you have parents that can never be at home they don’t have role models to look up to or supervision. It makes for unruly kids. They are a bit intimidated of me, I think in a good way. Anyway, Sean’s got a lot of work cut out for him. It is like eight bushes that need to be taken up. I think he may start to fear when I do yard work as it makes more work for him. ;)

Well I hope you all have had as good and productive week as we have!
