Yard woes

So for those of you who don’t know, about two months ago Sean and I started work on what will hopefully be a veggie garden. We plotted and looked and decided right in the middle of the back yard is where it would have to go. We don’t have a lot of room and we have 4, almost 5, trees (one is two right next to each other, so I’m not sure if it is really two or just one :) ). Anyway we pulled up the grass and started digging. You’ll remember that we had some rock problems and had to invite some awesome friends over to help with the situation. It ended up taking the better part of a day and a jack hammer. Crazy stuff.

Then we went to the garden store read more »

Chicken!

So as you might know Sean received a new big shiny grill for his birthday. He started out with veggies and has done such an awesome job he graduated to poultry. He made Julie and I a nice dinner of “beer butt chicken.” Yes this is something we make here in Texas and it is quite good if I do say so my self. I made German style potato salad to go with it as well as coleslaw. It was some good eats!

Happy Birthday!

Well today is quite a few people’s birthday.

To start with my sister. She is now a beautiful 29. She thinks shes old and is worried about all those crazy social things we all worry about from time to time, but I just think she’s beautiful. I also think she is an amazing woman with a beautiful future ahead of her. We love you Allie, Happy Birthday!!! We’ll make some cake and eat it in your honor. :)

Today is also two of Sean’s cousins birthdays.  Simon and Graham both celebrate their birthdays today. I believe Simon turns 8 and Graham 16… but I’ll have to call Sally at some point to make sure. What ever age, we hope you both have a great day celebrating. Its good to get a bit wiser. Happy Birthday!

Garden Rocks

Well we’ve been trying to put our garden in since the beginning of February. Between rain, snow and crazy huge rocks I wonder if we will ever get there. I sometimes wonder why we quit foraging and took up this whole domestication process, as at this point I think it is a whole lot more work. So about three weeks into digging our garden we found two rocks. About two weeks after that, when the rain and snow stopped, we asked some friends to help dig them out. More, Sean asked friends for help as my girlfriends would have been like, “you want me to what!?!” Anyway we finally worked a weekend out when a couple of them could come over. We were hoping a rock bar, a bit of muscle, a bit of brain and a couple of hours and the job would be done. As you can tell by the photo we were a bit optimistic… read more »

While I’m on the lego thing…

So the other day I mentioned Lego soap… well today I found the most awesome Lego Sock Monkey!

Somebody on flicker named Sappymoosetree’s Photostream had a bit of time and nostalgia on their hands. How cut is he!?!

When I have kids…

Now don’t get too excited folks, I just think what I found is really cute. I actually talked with my mom today and we had a serious discussion about grandchildren… it will be four, or more, years if Sean and I have our way. Though that doesn’t mean we both don’t enjoy kiddos and all the fun stuff that goes along with having them. (ummm note: Please keep the bad stuff to yourself or we will never have them. ;) )

Anyway I may make some of this for Sean and I, as who doesn’t love Legos! The sisters of Roots and Wings Co., a blog, have a tutorial on how to make soap… that looks like Legos! Click the awesome photo to head to the tutorial. You know what I’m doing this week!

Happy Monday!!
