I bought something!!!

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

So I’ve mentioned the inevitable buy a few times in mystery. Well here it is from box stage to the beauty herself:

Yep, I bought myself a new digital camera. Coolest part is that it showed up tonight, the evening of my first photography class in almost a year. Crazy to believe that due to my arm break and the house purchase that I’ve put my love for photography on the back burner for that long.

*Sigh*

The class is for film and dark room, but it all helps me take better photos. I wonder who will be my first subject with my new baby. I chose the D5000 because it takes HD video, so I will also have to have a subject for my first film too! I’ll also need some subjects for my film class… oh the ideas are swirling around in my head like sugar plum faeries.

Well I’m off to peruse the manual…

So Happy for our Friends

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010

Well a few months ago I was trying to convince everyone that buying a house was a crazy idea. Then we bought ours and I’ve slowly seen the light. It can be a lot of fun to have your own place. You can paint, garden, and more when ever you want, how you want. Pretty awesome.

Well I just wanted to share that our friends Beth, Adam, and their little girl Hazel, closed on their first home today. Yea!!! I can’t wait to see all the cute ways Beth will decorate and to head over for a BBQ, as it looks like they’ve got an awesome back yard.

Yea for first homes!! Congratulations Beth, Adam, and Zilla!!!

Happy Valentine’s Day!!

I hope you all had a good weekend with someone special, a friend, family member or significant other. Someone you love!

As for us, we were just so glad to see sunshine and not need to be anywhere. Since I’ve had to quit taking my allergy medication until this coming Wednesday, when I have my allergy testing (no fun), I’ve been sneezing and miserable. It shows you how much a simple medication can make life so much better. Yea science! Anyway, (more…)

Making the best of the gloom

Sunday, February 7th, 2010

Well I’m sure the rest of you are tired of cold, rain, and clouds. I feel like I need to order one of those light boxes and sit in front of it all day… and find where they sell self heating socks. I tend to stay pretty warm, except for my feel. The hubbers is getting a bit conscientious  about the heating bill. I love him, but doesn’t he remember that we’re not all able to withstand the freezing weather that his Canadian blood can. Oh well, I’ll just keep blaming the sudden spike in the heating temperature on ghosts, the wind, and a faulty thermostat. He’ll buy that right?

Anyway to combat the gloom we’ve hung out with friends and family. That always helps! I made stew Friday and we played boardgames and laughed with some friends, very fun and uplifting. And yesterday we had Sean’s sister Julie over. Sean made burgers to rival any burger place and sweet potato fries…. mmmm. Then we played a game, which I won Yea!!!! And then Julie introduced us to Fringe, the TV show. I’m still not convinced, but she left the first season over so we will give a few more episodes a go.

As for today, we were supposed to be heading to Houston but my work got pushed back. So what to do with ourselves…? I think we’ll be heading to the gym in a moment and then Julie has invited us for Superbowl watching. I think I may go for the pre-game food and fun and then cut out at game time. I just don’t like the idea of four hours of football, even if there will be a great halftime and some funny commercials. Hope she understands.

As for my last thought to help with the gloom… go here: My Ikea Name

You type in your name and it tells you what you would be called if you were a piece of Ikea furniture. Apparently Sean and I are: SEANVIK (a platform bed) & MELLYSVSA (and end table with two drawers).

Hope that cheers you up!

Hot Tea and The Yellow Submarine

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

It is wet and cold and I just want to stay warm and have a nice cup of hot tea. While checking out my favorite blogs and news sites this morning (a daily ritual that is almost like my coffee, gets the brain working and creative juices flowing) I found this this:

Happiness and irony all in one happy yellow design. Its by Ototo Design. They make other happy stuff too. Just thought I’d share. Hope it brightens your day. Now where’s that new tea leaf I just bought…
