Moving week!… I mean Thanksgiving!

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

Well we moved in on Monday and spent our first night in our very own home. The day it self was extremely long and filled with many a good story. We spent the week setting up what we could before carpet was installed and our new fridge showed up. We also needed to have the guest room in enough order to house family. That’s right they came here for the holiday. Sally, Dickson and Evan showed up for Thanksgiving day. Sally had prepared a very nice Thanksgiving feast… though we were lacking an oven at the time to reheat it, or any utensils to eat it on. ;) We managed, and they even worked in some football. Then Friday they left and we scrambled to finish getting our apartment in ‘like new’ condition. It all worked out in time for my mom and dad to show up on Saturday after lunch. We hung out for the afternoon, boy was it nice to sit!!! Then we went for a very filling dinner at the Salt Lick, yumm! Now I’m off to Houston for work. I think this Holiday season may just be the craziest yet!

Umm, that was a large check…

Yep that’s right folks. We handed over the very large check to the title company this morning. WE’RE HOME OWNERS!!!! We’re going to look at paint tonight and work out the details of our actual move in. Here is a photo of our new place:

We just wanted to say thanks to all the family and friends who supported us in this decision. We couldn’t have done it with out y’all!

Oh Canada!

We should have know the trip wasn’t going to be a smooth one, when not thirty minutes after picking up our rental car we were on the side of the road with a flat tire. Well you know Sean, always positive. As I slowed the car down and started a string of words I planned on telling the rental company, Sean jumped out of the car all perky and asked Julie if she’d ever changed a tire. When the answer was no he got even more peppy and said well today is your lucky day. As I got on the phone to figure out the situation Sean and Julie changed the tire in the pouring rain. A nice guy stopped at one point and helped, awesome to know there are still good Samaritans out there.

As we left the rental car place for the second time that day, Sean and Julie were staring at me strangely. I was confused and asked what I did? They both replied… (more…)
