The simple things…
I think it is funny that when we’re little, boxes and cardboard rolls can make us so happy and as we get older we think it should take so much more. Some of the best days we’ve had lately have been sitting with friends chatting, chatting on the couch, and taking naps on our now much cooler porch (thank goodness the cooler weather finally got here!). We should learn from our mini-selves and realize that the simple moments and simple things can be some of the best times. Things around here seem to be moving so fast right now I miss those little simple moments.
We’re still house hunting, keep your fingers crossed we find something soon! We’re starting to get a bit nervous about the timing of the whole thing. We have had wonderful friends (Monica and Aaron, and Paul and Lori) offer us beds and storage space if need be, but I really hope it doesn’t come to that. We’ve also been a bit thrown with my new job. For those that don’t know I’ve taken on a job. I’m super excited about it!
So a friends mom needed some help and it turned out to be the perfect fit. I’m taking the situation to be more of an internship of what my future job could be. Crazy enough but apparently I’m rather organized compared to most, I’m also a good communicator and listener (though don’t tell too many of my family members that
, I’m good at planning events and apparently I’m a good decision maker too. This may sound silly but I knew I could do all these things I just never thought of them as a job description. I may need to rethink my thinking, as there are a ton of folks out there that need organizational help, event planning, and decisions made. Well see how it all goes, but for now it really feels good to help someone get things in order so they can do the things they’re good at and that they love.
As for Sean, that place called work is slowly taking him from me again. I really appreciate all the good they do for him, but it gets rather bumming when he has to work late or on weekends. He’s also been doing tons of board game playing in his spare time. The man plays board games with different groups of friends and people at least once a week. He’s also getting back out on his bike a lot more as the weather improves. I wish I had his motivation when it comes to exercise and sweat. He’s also been finishing up the details for our trip later next month. We’re headed to visit some of my family and then on to Canada for some of Sean’s family, vacationing and a wedding. It should make for a nice bit of relaxing before the holiday season blows in.
About that, can anyone tell me why we need to see pumpkins next to holiday ornaments in September? This stuff gets so commercialized it puts a big downer on the situation for me. What happened to putting up Halloween decorations like a week or two before the day, and why do we need yards full of crap? I like the simple carved pumpkins with lanterns and the fall wreath. All the other stuff just feels like over kill. And why can’t we see holiday decorations in like late November or the first week of December, I mean isn’t this slowly confusing the younger generations as to when we actually celebrate these holidays and why?
Well I could vent for days on society, but I’ll stop with those comments. We hope all is well where you are! Today I’m thankful for laughing with my girlfriends, decision making husbands, and family being home safe from the war.
