Its Hot!

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

It has been pretty miserable here for the last few weeks. We had to completely rearrange the porch to keep the plants from burning. We’ve also been a bit less active when it comes to going outside. That has been a bummer for us both. We have to wait until it is almost dark before Sean can go for his bike ride or I can go for a run. People ask why don’t we do it in the morning… well folks we like our sleep. I’ve tried so many times to exercise in the morning and it never happens. I like being lazy in the morning. I didn’t used to but husbands have a way of rubbing off on you. :)

Well not too much is going on here. I’ve got only three weeks left of school and then I’ll have a few weeks off. Sean is still working overtime on the project he has at work, so it looks like it may be the end of next month before we truly get a break. I’ve registered for classes and will be taking Spanish again as well as two more legal courses.

Other than all that we’ve just been enjoying friends and looking forward to a much needed break. Break… hurry up!

So… I got a little wiser

That is I got another year older. It feels pretty good, especially when you have a wonderful husband who plans a surprise party at your favorite Indian food place in town, writes you an amazing card and on top of it all brings you home a pink bakery box with an awesome peanut butter fudge cake in it. I also received some beautiful antique pins from my mom and the traditional birthday calls around 8am (the approximate time I apparently came into this world 27 years ago). It felt pretty great to be called by family, receive gifts (event thought I don’t need them it feels good to get them! Whether actual gift or people showing up because they care. Extra thanks to Sally, Dickson, Rachel, Ryan, Lisa, David, Pat, Corby, Monica, Aaron, Lori, Paul, Laurie, Steven, and Julie-girl for making it an extra awesome weekend!). It is good to when people remind you that you’re loved. I’ll put some photos up soon of dinner, my new broaches, my bag and my awesome cake. Too bad they still haven’t developed a scratch and sniff screen. ;)

Well all in all this past weekend was pretty darn good. And even though I’ve reached my late tweneties (my sister reminded me of that, thanks Al :) ) I think I’m all the better for it. I think I may start throwing caution to the wind a little more often and start living in the moment. Yea to birthdays, family, old friends, new friends and most of all husbands!

Fourth of July!!

Sunday, July 5th, 2009

What is the perfect Fourth of July celebration? I think I figured it out… It should involve a little shopping (to celebrate our free economy), then there should be very large burgers with guacamole on them (good and extremely American), next you should find a cool shady place at a distance from the crowds to watch the fireworks, and while watching the fireworks you should drink a good ‘ol American milkshake and eat some french fries. :)

Well that’s pretty much what Sean and I did and it made for an awesome day. The only thing we lacked was friends or family to do it with. Boo. We did find out that Julie got to see a few fireworks from the windows at her job (YEA!), and some of our friends had a great time at Auditorium Shores watching the fireworks up close and personal. We just weren’t in the mood for crowds this year. It was kind of awesome to spend the afternoon and evening hanging out with only my best-friend.

Well we just wanted to say Happy Fourth of July to everyone and thank all the troops that help us to have all the luxuries we do. And to send a special shout out to my cousin CJ. We hope you’re safe where you are, remember how much we all love you.
