Ranunculus
For those involved in our wedding, on any level, the familiar name ranunculus probably brings a sigh and rolling of the eyes. I admit there were a few things we got particular about and for me one of those things were the flowers. Which as the florist said, “consisted mainly of weeds!” My feelings weren’t hurt, I’m easy to please when it comes to plants in general. Though she had quite a bit of magic to pull as we got married toward the very end of the first growing season. These “weeds” like cooler weather. She pulled it off and there were tiny ranunculus flowers in every bouquet, lapel flower, corsage, wrist-let, and ball, and she even got them in all three colors, red, yellow and orange. I was one happy bride when they showed up!
Anyway my husband gives me things every now and then, chocolate, candies, flowers, dinners out, dinners in, cards, etc. You get the idea. He only does it when I’m least expecting it, I think he likes the reaction he gets. Anyway seeing as it’s Valentines week, we usually take this over celebrated holiday and choose to do nothing (but maybe give each other a little love note) as we find it all a bit cheesy, I was expecting nothing anyway and he went and did his sweet guy thing. It was a perfect little bouquet of red, orange and pink ranunculus. He’s a keeper!
