Hurricane Season

Well for those that don’t live in Texas the Hurricane Season is upon us in full force. We currently have Ike headed towards the Texas coast and are expecting family to head this way towards the end of the week. I find it strange how this has become the norm for me as a native Texan from the coast. I call a few people a head of time to make sure there’s enough room for all those that might need a place to stay, thank you to James and Melissa for the offers of warm beds in the event they do head here, and then I just kick back. It truly is something out of my control and I can’t do anything until it is almost upon us. I believe that most of my family living on the coast react in this manner. However Sean and his family are a bit different about hurricanes. They get all excited and start planning and have boards made for their windows. Now don’t take this wrong I’m not trying to poke fun, for if this were a blizzard headed my way in Canada I would probably be taking their actions of caution and they mine of being a bit more laid back about it. I feel in these moments good to have both on my side. I don’t get too worked up but I’m also a bit more cautious than I might  have been if not for the Canadians in my life. I just thought I’d share this bit of information with you all. For those that don’t live here you can go to these websites for more information on our Hurricane Season:

Well the one thing we all should remember is that everthing keeps moving and work doesn’t stop. Thus I should get back to packing. Sean and I get the keys to our new apartment in South Austin this weekend. We will try to post some photos of our place soon…. I just realized that everyone being in Austin might not be so bad… they can help us move! No free evacuee status here, you’ve got to work for it. Well that is going a bit over board, but at least we will have something for them to do. :)
