Whoa, it’s been a while…
Well, sorry about that. We do really mean to post more often but life just gets busy. Lets see… well, I’ve started back to school. I’ve got quite a few classes this semester but at least most of my professors are interesting. I’m also still on the search for a job/internship. I’ll let y’all know when I get any good news. Breaking into the library field is proving to be difficult, but, as you all know, I love a good challenge.
Sean is quite busy as well. They are working a bit of overtime right now in order to finish up a current project. Deadlines, deadlines. He also started his French class on Saturday mornings. He will be taking it with Alliance Française of Austin. Go here to check out there website. It is a great organization and Sean likes the idea of smaller groups and lessons only once a week. It was hard for him to have free time last semester when he took his French class at Austin Community College. I’m sure he’ll write soon and let you all know how it’s going.
Well what else have we been up to. Click here We went to a baby shower for our friends Lance and Kristin a few weeks back. They’re due with Benjamin, I believe, on October 25th. Correct me if I’m wrong guys. I didn’t end up taking photos so I’ll have to bum some off of our friends, Mike and Jen, when I talk to them next. It was a great shower and the food was awesome. I was about to stay the night just to see what Jeff, I believe he is Lance’s cousin (again correct me if I’m wrong), would be cooking for breakfast the next morning. I may have to steal some recipes.
For the time being I think there’s a really cute photo of Lilly checking out Kristin’s belly on Lance and Kristin’s website. Go here to see it.
We also went to dinner a couple of weekends ago at Jason and Ying’s house. They have just finished building a beautiful home in Avery Ranch. For those of you who don’t know Austin, Avery Ranch is a community in north west Austin. Sean and I got a full tour. They have a lovely place and are almost ready for their little boy too. I was astonished at how prepared they are. Sean and I went bearing gifts and luckily we got them a few items they didn’t have. I also took a few photos so you all could see how cute Ying looks pregnant. Go here to see them.
Oh, I meant to ask the spelling of his name in Chinese but I forgot. I’ll get Sean to do that next week. Jason is still working on an American name for him. I don’t know if many of you know how the Chinese give names, we’re still learning ourselves. From what we understand thus far the grandparents help and the process is a bit different from ours. For a quick debriefing go here. Either way we can’t wait to meet him. He’s due October 28th (again correct me if I’m wrong).
What else… Oh! We went to a concert over the Labor Day weekend as well. It was at Austin’s Backyard. We saw Coblie Caillait, Lifehouse, and the Goo Goo Dolls. We saw our friend Sankalp their enjoying the concert as well. He was down front though and it was a little too crowded for me. So Sean and I found some great seats towards the back. We also ended up standing about ten feet from Coblie and her co-writer Jason Reeves’, who plays ukulele for the band, during Lifehouse’s set. It was pretty cool. Lifehouse also played our song.
We knew they would.
And then weekend before last we had Justin and Nichole over for dinner. We hadn’t seen them together in quite a while. I realized when we were talking that they hadn’t both been to our place since we got our “newer” couch on Craig’s List. That must be over a year. As awful as that sounds we have seen them a few more times throughout that time, but we don’t tend to get to see each other very often. We’re all so busy. Nichole is doing her Master’s degree at Texas State (Go Bobcats!) in Social Work and Justin is at University of Texas, San Antonio finishing up a Bachelors in Civil Engineering. So needles to say they have a lot on their plates. We also went out this past Friday with them. Nichole was celebrating her 25th birthday, CONGRATULATIONS, and we went to Chuy’s to celebrate. Ummm Chuy’s. Nichole and some other friends went down to 6th street to keep the party going but Sean and I were a bit old fogy and chose to come home after we ate. I hope they all had fun though.
Before I go I should mention that there are some new and old photos up in the photo gallery. If you go to Melissa’s Stuff, you will see two new tabs. One is old photos from the first time I went to Europe and lived in Switzerland. I felt it was time to put them up. There are also some photos from my study abroad trip this last summer in Amiens, France. We’re also trying to get more photos of older events put up in the family and friends sections. We’ll get them up as soon as we can.
Well I guess that’s all for now. Just kidding, one more thing! For those of you who don’t know, Beth and Hazel are in town. She’ll be in good ol’ Lake Jackson until Christmas time and to see how big Hazila has gotten, and what they’re up to, you should check our her DropShots page. She’s staying close to home while Adam is in Bahrain. I’d just like to say as political as I get sometimes, and as much as Adam and I disagree on politics
, I sure am glad to know he’s on our side. Sean, and I, defiantly support the troops and that soldier in particular. We hope he’s doing well and wish him safe travels.
Oh and one more. As some of you may know Sean and his family have been going through the processes of getting their American citizenship. Well good news! Evan, Julie and Sally are now officially Canadian-American. I believe Dickson will soon be following suit and be Canadian-American as well. His ceremony is a little later due to other commitments he had in the beginning of the processes. And Sean will be waiting quite a bit longer than that, as he didn’t put his paper work in until after our honeymoon and right before the government practically double the price to send in the paper work. So because many fellow immigrants were trying to save some dough the process will take longer. I’m sure we’ll have a little get-together to celebrate and we will let you all know when, and I guess if, all goes as planned. Until then we’re happy for the rest of the family and enjoyed hanging out with Julie this last week at her “Julie’s American” party.
.
Well I’m really going to go now, as I can’t think of much more to tell you. And I should also be doing a bunch of homework. :p Sean and I hope you all are well!
